6 Countries in less than 2 months

Since I left San Francisco Bay in late April, I've been back home in Indonesia- for half of the time, that is. Whilst in Asia I visited Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. Seven countries in 2 months; my current "most countries in least time" record. Here's a little from my trips; more posts with details of each destinations coming soon! :)

Street Seafood like no other in Bangkok, Thailand

Retro Night

Timeless icons like Jacky O and Audrey Hepburn, movies like Grease and Dirty Dancing, and impractical fashion trends like gloves and elaborate head pieces always seem to make our era bland in comparison. It's because we're so used to the world around us today that we take it for granted.

Anyway, in effort to dress like it's decades ago and to wear the bright Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss #64 I bought this summer, I decided to hold a mini retro night last weekend! It was just a small gathering with failed board-game attempts and retro-inspired movies like Down With Love and Hairspray.

Slightly proud of my crackers topped with homemade bean dip, carrots, corns, cucumbers and tomato!
Cindy inspired atire; best dressed for the night!
Atira as Twiggy; digging the high knee socks! Xx
Not sure what I dressed up as, but I'm happy I got to wear my transparent Melissa shoes again!

Double Relaxation, Double Calories Burnt!

Doing yoga in the sauna sounds pretty silly, but you'll be amazed at how much calories it burns and how rejuvenating it is!

I started Bikram Yoga recently. It's a series of 26 yoga poses done in a heated room (40C/104F). The first half hour, we are not allowed to drink water; we're allowed to take sips of water there after. Then, we move on to the standing series and the floor series- where we spend half of our time lying down on the floor, relaxing.

Bikram Yoga, with it's slow poses and relaxation, surprisingly makes me sweat like I've never sweat before. Every article of my clothing are soaked in sweat and my whole body is drenched after each sessions. It burns anywhere between 350- 1000 calories each 90 minute session.

More surprisingly, it's really rejuvenating. I couldn't sleep last weekend so I stayed up all night and went to the 8am yoga class on Sunday. Instead of not having the energy to follow every move, I had more energy than ever before. I guess my body realizes I really need yoga.

My goal for this year is to do yoga at least once a week! You should try it too! :)

College Oscar's Night Party- On a Budget!

Oscars 2012 is undoubtedly my favorite Oscars ever. Octavia Spencer moved me to tears and all the movies nominated was great. But best of all, I was a part of the party!

Dress code: black, red, or gold!

Menu:
Game: Oscar's BINGO! Our categories ranged from red dress to Xfinity ads to tears on screen!

Our Oscars party only cost $5 per person. Guess how much celebrities spend on dressing for the Oscars alone? A whopping $35000!
Atira's tights and necklace! <3

With our Bingo cards!

Us girls in our Oscar's outfit- Trina had already changed :(

Thoughts on The Real Oscars:

Loved how they gave Christopher Plummer extra time for speech!
Rooney Mara for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo; scroll down to see her at the Oscars!
Rooney Mara at the Oscars. BIGGEST transformation! Love it!

Reminds me of Barbie! Very elegant- screams respected, powerful, and lady-like.
Gorgeous movements by the bottom frills, perfect fit- not too tight but shows curves!
Simple, chic, and daring with the cardigan- what a genius touch!
Nicole Kidman's 2007 Dress, only much worse because this one looks like it's choking Emma Stone.
Sad to see Angelina Jolie disturbingly scrawny.

Biking the Golden Gate

The hills in San Francisco may intimidate cyclists, but honestly cycling from Pier 40, across the Golden Gate Bridge, and to Sausalito isn't that bad at all! There were only two hills to cycle throughout the scenic route along the coast.

We started at 11a.m. in the morning and finished at 5p.m., mostly because we stopped and sight-saw a lot of different places. Here is a quick run-down of how we did it:

  1. Rented bikes at The Bike Hut ($22 plus tax) and parked car next to it ($6)
  2. Biked to the famous Ferry Building Farmer's Market and grabbed brunch
  3. Biked along the coast to the Golden Gate and down the hill to Sausalito
  4. Explored Sausalito's many art galleries and ice cream shops
  5. Take the ferry back to The Ferry Building ($5 with Clipper card)

Bike Rental
The Ferry Building Farmers Market had everything: pretty flowers, fresh produce, gourmet cheese and salmons...
The most beautiful fungi I've ever seen- The Ferry Building Farmers Market

On the scenic route, near the warming hut and a protected bird-nesting site.

Cruising along the Golden Gate Bridge!

My rented bike in Sausalito, one of the most beautiful places in San Francisco Bay.

Gorgeous ferry ride back to The Ferry Building, just after the sunset.

Foothill International Night

Time really flies. It's been a year since Putrina and I hosted Foothill's International Night. We have our first meeting tomorrow: time to decide what to participate in! *It's been two weeks and I've been selected to be the overall chair this year! Fingers crossed for an even better show.
Polynesian Dance- emphasizes hip movements, very sexy!

Indian Dance- foot tapping with all those jingles and colorful fabric!

Brazilian Dance: festive and energetic, reminds me of Brazilian Carnavale!

Opening Performance: Lady Gaga's "Born This Way", because we are all super stars :))

Me- hosting the show with the mime, my shadow!

Edwin, me, Boris, and Putrina (my co-host) going all ethnic in Indonesian batik, Chinese shirt, and Malaysian baju kurung!
